What is Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2020?
So this is what I would refer to as a “backwards” sale. Typically items are listed at full price, and then go on sale down the line in an attempt to clear them out for new styles. With the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2020, all the items are actually BRAND NEW releases for upcoming seasons listed initially at the sale price, then go up to full price once the sale it over. The sale gets bigger each year and I am so excited to say this is going to be the biggest one yet. And with an amazing plus size selection too!
It also includes items from some of my favorite brands like…SPANX, Good American, Barefoot Dreams, Vince Camuto, Tory Burch, Steve Madden, Chelsea28, NIKE, Caslon, Gibson Look!… And tons of beauty brands too! Last year, the sale was so good, I placed SEVERAL orders!

What is the “Preview”?
The Preview is live! You can check it out HERE! For the first time ever, Nordstrom is having preview starting July 24th, that will showcase ALL of the items that will be available during the sale. This preview will be available to everyone and is a great opportunity to put together your shopping list ahead of time. Things sell out quickly, sometimes within minutes and having a list of items you know you want a ahead of time will help you shop quickly and efficiently. You can click HERE to see my top picks from last years sale. A lot of times, the same brands/pieces will be offered so this is kind of like a super sneak peek!
Why should I apply for Nordstrom card?
Besides racking up points that will earn you money off future purchases, it also gives you early access to the yearly Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Last year I didn’t have early access and missed out on some really great deals. Plus right now, when you sign up for a Nordstrom Card you’ll earn a $40 Nordstrom Note with your first purchase. Earn 3 points per dollar spent in stores or online at Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack, HauteLook and Trunk Club. You will also be given two “Double Points” days – perfect for using during the sale. The more points you earn, the faster you will receive notes. There is NO annual fee and they offer 24/7 customer service.
What else do I need to know? Tips + Tricks
A few things, actually!
- Cardholders – activate your “Double Points” – Don’t forget to use those double and triple points days if you plan on buying a lot during the sale!

If you want it, GRAB IT! Items sell out fast, and they usually do not restock until after the sale is over. I recommend buying everything you think you want and then returning anything that doesn’t end up working out later. The same applies when trying to figure out what size to get, if you aren’t sure, grab two sizes and return the one that doesn’t fit. Nordstrom’s has an amazing return policy.

Be Prepared – I start making a list of items I want prior to the sale. This serves several purposes. It gives you the opportunity to have an easy to use “guide” for shopping the sale so you aren’t clicking like a mad woman trying to find all the things you wanted. It also makes sure you have a general idea of your spend and budget so you don’t unexpectedly break the bank. Plan out your fall capsule wardrobe and shop to create/complete it. Investing in a few great staple pieces really pays off in the long end and getting them on major sale is a huge plus!

Shop Online – While I have never been a fan of in-store shopping to begin with, I especially avoid stores during big sales. Another great thing about online shopping, besides fighting the crowds, is you wont have to run around the store searching for a particular item or size. Online shopping is just SO much easier and more convenient #nopantsrequired

Remember Gifts – If you know me, you know I love being SUPER prepared and gift giving is no different. The sale is a great time to start your holiday gift shopping or even just gifts to keep on hand for birthdays, special occassions, etc. I love buying the Barefoot Dreams blankets because they are such a luxurious gift and honestly, there isn’t a single person I know who doesn’t love a soft blanket.
Will you be doing a try-on?
YES!! This will actually be my first year doing a Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2020 try on and I am BEYOND excited!! Last year was my first official time shopping the sale and being new to doing “try-ons” and not having enough time, I only did photos of what I purchased. Thanks to early access this year, I should have my order in plenty of time to do both! So be on the lookout for a full try on session including styling!
What’s the best way to shop?
I will say I 100% prefer and recommend shopping the sale via a computer rather than a cell phone. It allows you to shop easier, add things to your cart faster, see all available options, details, sizes, etc. However, I know that for some this may not be possible – but don’t worry girl, I’ve got you covered.
Since I know a lot of you prefer to shop different ways, I will be publishing everything in several formats. I want to make sure I make this shopping experience as fun and user friendly as possible for you guys. I will have ALL of my sale picks & purchases ready to shop via:

- Instagram Stories – I will be posting a full try on session of my sale purchases and well as other sale picks and high sell out risk items so guys can snag them before they sell out. The optimal way to shop specific items from your phone!
- LikeToKnow.it Posts – This will have photos of all my stylized sale purchases, collages of categories and individual items too. If you are shopping via computer, this and the Blog Master Shopping List are how you want to shop.
